Depending on how far the pregnancy has progressed and the ultrasound findings, treatment may include medication for selected very early pregnancies or a surgical procedure. The appropriate option is determined after reviewing the patient’s symptoms, medical history, and individual circumstances.
Abortion care refers to medication or surgical treatment used to end a pregnancy. The available method depends mainly on the pregnancy location, gestational age, ultrasound findings, symptoms, medical history, and current medications.
A gynecologic ultrasound is performed to confirm the pregnancy location and estimate the gestational age. Pregnancy testing or blood tests may also be recommended when necessary. If the pregnancy location cannot yet be confirmed or an ectopic pregnancy is suspected, additional evaluation may be required before treatment.

Before treatment, the doctor may review:
Pregnancy testing, blood tests, and a gynecologic ultrasound examination are performed before treatment. The results are reviewed to assess the patient’s condition and determine whether treatment can proceed and which treatment option is appropriate.
Medication treatment may cause bleeding, cramping, nausea, fatigue, or temporary changes in the next menstrual period. Follow-up is essential because additional medication or surgical treatment may occasionally be required.
After surgical treatment, temporary bleeding, cramping, nausea, or dizziness may occur. Because sedation is used, patients should fast for at least six hours before the procedure, including avoiding water. Patients are monitored in the recovery room before being discharged.
Patients should seek medical care for severe or worsening abdominal pain, very heavy bleeding, persistent fever, fainting, or foul-smelling discharge. A guardian or accompanying adult is required on the day of surgery.
A follow-up ultrasound examination is performed to confirm that treatment is complete. Blood tests may also be recommended when necessary. The next menstrual period may begin earlier or later than usual.
Ovulation and fertility may return soon after treatment. Patients who wish to prevent another pregnancy may discuss oral contraceptive pills, Nexplanon, or an IUD during follow-up.
Surgical abortion at LANTE OBGYN starts from KRW 1,000,000 at approximately six weeks of pregnancy. The basic surgical fee includes sedation, standard pain medication, and one follow-up ultrasound examination.
The total surgical fee increases according to the gestational age. At LANTE OBGYN, surgical abortion is available for eligible pregnancies of less than 15 weeks.
Consultation fees, the initial diagnostic ultrasound examination, postoperative treatment, laboratory testing, prescribed medications, and other additional care are charged separately when required. Optional medications used during surgery are also available at an additional cost.
