Emsella is a non-surgical pelvic floor treatment that uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) technology to repeatedly stimulate and strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Simply sitting fully clothed on the treatment chair can help improve pelvic floor activation and support better bladder control without internal devices, anesthesia, or downtime.

A single Emsella session is designed to produce thousands of repeated pelvic floor contractions, providing intensive muscle stimulation at an intensity and frequency that can be difficult to achieve through voluntary exercise alone.
The pelvic floor is a group of muscles located at the bottom of the pelvis, forming a supportive layer beneath the bladder, urethra, uterus, and other pelvic organs.
These muscles play an important role in bladder control, pelvic organ support, and overall pelvic stability. They help support the urethra when abdominal pressure rises during coughing, sneezing, running, exercise, or lifting.
Like other muscles in the body, pelvic floor muscles can weaken but can also be trained and strengthened. Regular activation and exercise can help maintain muscle function and support long-term pelvic health.
Pelvic floor exercises can be effective, but performing them correctly is not always easy. Some patients are unsure where the pelvic floor muscles are or cannot generate an effective contraction even when instructed.
During examination, we sometimes find that a patient who is asked to contract the pelvic floor actually relaxes or bears down instead, while others have difficulty producing any voluntary contraction at all. This means that simply being told to “do Kegel exercises” does not always result in effective muscle training.
Emsella repeatedly activates the pelvic floor muscles automatically. In addition to providing intensive muscle stimulation, the sensation of repeated contraction can help patients recognize how the pelvic floor feels when it is being activated, which may make subsequent voluntary pelvic floor exercises easier to understand and perform correctly.

At LANTE OBGYN in Gangnam, Seoul, Korea, Emsella treatment is individualized according to pelvic floor strength, urinary symptoms, treatment goals, and the patient’s available treatment schedule.
Rather than applying the same protocol to every patient, treatment time, intensity, and frequency may be adjusted to provide more effective pelvic floor stimulation. When appropriate, Emsella may also be combined with pelvic floor exercises or other urinary incontinence treatments as part of a more comprehensive treatment plan.
Emsella is performed while the patient remains fully clothed and comfortably seated on the treatment chair. At LANTE OBGYN in Gangnam, Seoul, treatment for international patients is generally performed for approximately 40 minutes per session, allowing for more intensive pelvic floor stimulation when frequent visits may be difficult. Normal daily activities can be resumed immediately afterward.
Pelvic floor strengthening develops through repeated training rather than a single session. Treatment frequency and the total number of sessions are individualized according to pelvic floor strength, urinary symptoms, length of stay in Korea, and treatment goals.
Because pelvic floor muscles can weaken again with aging and reduced use, periodic maintenance treatment may also be recommended. Continuing appropriate pelvic floor exercises between sessions can further support long-term muscle function. Treatment time and protocol may vary depending on the patient’s condition, symptoms, and travel schedule.
